A sad news is spread out which shocks every chess player, i.e. Bhausaheb Padsalgikar passed-away today at 3:00 AM in the morning. In the last one year he was not keeping very good health and was using the services of a Pace Maker. Every chess player from India including Viswanathan Anand had visited Sangli for chess. Shri Narhar Vyanktesh alias Bhausaheb Padsalgikar. Joseph D'Souza, Chairman of Central Maharashtra Chess Association said he was the only organizer in any sport to receive all the three awards of Jeevan Gaurav, Dadoji Konddev and Shiv Chhatrapati from the Government of Maharashtra..

He was also honored by FIE FOUNDATION AWARD in 1991.
Padsalgikar is called Bhausaheb. He had encouraged Bhagyashree Sathe (later Bhagyashree Thipsay), Swati Ghate,

Ashwini Pachapurkar and the Jahagirdars all who came from Sangli before making it well known.

Padsalgikar was one of the founders of the Maharashtra Chess Association and also served as its Secretary sometime. He is survived by his son Dr Krishna Padsalgikar, a pharmacist and four daughters. Dr Mali, the medical doctor of Nutan Buddhibal Mandal said that his family members are unlikely to continue the chess work which Padsalgikar and his father did in the the last century. Shri Sharad Chitlangya, President of UCA of CG and Shri Narendra Daklia, Secretary, UCA of CG said it is great loss to chess community.

शतरन्ज के बेताज बादशाह भाऊ साहब पडसालगीकर दिनाक 7 सितम्बर को प्रातः 3 बजे इस दुनिया को अलविदा कर दिये।
पिछले एक वर्ष से उनका स्वास्थ्य ठीक नही था। भारत के लगभग सभी शतरन्ज खिलाडी यहा तक की विश्वनाथ आनन्द भी उनके निर्देश मे सान्गली शतरन्ज महोत्सव मे भाग ले चुके है।
सेन्ट्रल महाराष्ट्र चेस एसोसिएशन के चेयर मेन जोसफ डिसोजा के अनुसार वे एकमात्र ऎसे आयोजक थे जिन्हे जीवन गौरव, दादा कौण्ड देव तथा शिवाजी छ्त्रपती पुरस्कार से महाराष्ट्र सरकार ने सम्मानित किया ।
उन्हे FIE फाउन्डेशन एवार्ड भी 1991 मे दिया गया।
नरहर व्यन्केश अर्थात भाऊ सा पडसालगीकर महराष्ट्र चेस एसोसिएशन के जन्मदाता सदस्य तथा लम्बे समय तक सचिव के पद पर सेवाये दी।
युनाइटेड चेस एसोसिएशन आफ छत्तीसगढ के अध्यक्ष शरद चितलान्गया तथा सचिव नरेन्द्र डाकलिया ने भाऊ सा के निधन को शतरन्ज क्षेत्र मे अपूर्णीय क्षती बतया जिसकी पूर्ती असम्भव है। इस समाचार से देश विदेश मे शोक की लहर फैल गयी।
